Also, Our Client will consider strong Mid level candidates as long as
your SQL Server 2005 admin experience is solid "AND" you bring large (e.g.
100 GB) database admin experience in an OLTP environment to the plate.
Position Description / Responsibilities:
-
Note that the technical interview for this position will be a challenge.
That is, the current SQL Server talent on board is very seasoned and
searching for a strong team member to join them that can hold their own
technically and personality-wise.

Looking specifically for process oriented, go-getter type personality.
-
Client currently has over 2TB in production dataset (vertically
partitioned into segments) and run well over 15,000 Txn/S, and volume is
rapidly growing.

Administer, tune, monitor databases running in various environments.
-
Perform cluster and SAN tuning and support.
-
Assist Software Engineers and Senior DB Developer with writing SQL calls
required by application modules.

Troubleshoot existing SQL calls
-
Work with Marketing and SQL Reporting Services to develop departmental
reports, and assist in improving the overall performance of databases.

Note that this is an on-call position.
REQUIRED Technical Skills:
-
Must have 3+ years managing 100GB + Databases in OLTP environments
-
MUST, repeat, MUST have in-depth knowledge of SQL Server 2005 - and the more 2005 experience the better
b/c you will be grilled hard!

Performance tuning knowledge on all levels
-
Solid understanding of database security
-
Must have 2+ years developing SPROCS, VIEWS and UDFs in MS SQL Server
2000/2005
-
In-depth knowledge of Joins
-
Understanding of distributed architecture is required
-
Strong understanding of SQL Server Alerting functions required
-
Backup and Task Automation knowledge
-
Familiarity with Visual Studio 2005
PLUS Technical Skills (Highly desired but not required for consideration):

SSIS understanding a plus
-
Replication knowledge a plus
-
BS or BA preferred but not absolutely required
